An old-world Christmas, close to home
Free entry. Free parking. Christmas cheer.
For more than twenty-five years, Nanaimo Christmas Village has brought old-world German Christmas traditions to Vancouver Island, blended with a little West Coast charm. Every November the hall fills with local artisans, the smell of Bratwurst on the grill, and neighbours doing their Christmas shopping.
A German Christmas market in Nanaimo
Christmas markets have been part of German winters for centuries, and that is the tradition this market was built on. You will find Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, potato salad and warm pretzels, alongside Stollen baked fresh by Oh Happy Bake, our German baking vendor.
It is the part of the day people plan around. Shop for an hour, eat, warm up, and go back for another look. See what is on the menu.
Handmade, local, and carefully chosen
Every vendor applies, and we read every application. We are looking for original work, made by the person standing behind the table, and we build the room so there is as little overlap as possible. You should not walk past the same thing three times.
Around thirty makers set up each year, most from Nanaimo and the surrounding communities of central Vancouver Island. Jewellery, textiles, woodwork, art, cards and more. Meet this year's makers.
New venue. Same Christmas cheer.
A new home for 2026
